Travel Resources

It’s not always easy to know where to go to get the very best advice when you’re trying to research a holiday on the Internet, so here I’ve gathered together a few resources that I find incredibly helpful. I’ll keep adding to the list over time

Use-It

The best guides to Belgian cities that money can’t buy. All recommendations are spot-on and made by locals.

The Man in Seat SixtyOne

A classic, but this detailed and comprehensive guide to train travel around the world will have you planning European rail itineraries and routes across South East Asia.

Skyscanner

My favourite site for finding cheap flights. A great game is to leave the destination open to find out where you can fly to for least money on a whim.

GoEuro

Book integrated tickets for train and plane travel across the UK, Germany and Spain. GoEuro calculates entire door to door travel times, factoring in check-in and wait times along with any additional costs

CityHook

A newbie, giving you all the options to negotiate European aiport to city connections using public transport. List of airports is constantly expanding and Android and iPhone apps are available.

Londonist

Brilliant alternative to Time Out for London, listing all the week’s most happening events across various categories, from food to culture to science.

Agenda

Similar to Londonist, but for Brussels.

Thorntree and Ask Tom

When all else fails and you have a dilemma, walk this way.
